Use Todoist Controls on iOS

Optimize your workflow with custom Todoist Controls on iOS. You can add Controls to quickly create new tasks and open your most visited views in the Control Center, your Lock screen or by customizing Action Buttons on your Apple device. 

Note

Todoist Controls are available on iOS 18 and later versions.

Add a Todoist Control to Control Center

  1. Swipe down from the top-right of your Apple device to open your Control Center.
  2. Tap the plus icon at the top-left.
  3. Tap Add a Control at the bottom of your screen.
  4. Search for Todoist and choose from the following controls:
    • Add task: create a new task and select its task attributes, like task name or due date. 
    • Open view: change the current view by choosing any of the available options from the list.
  5. Drag the bottom-right corner of the control to resize it. 
  6. Swipe up from the bottom of the screen to close the Control Center. 

Add a Todoist Control to Lock Screen

  1. Lock your device.
  2. Long-press the lock screen. 
  3. Tap Customize at the bottom of your screen. 
  4. Select Lock Screen. You'll see your existing controls at the bottom of the screen. 
  5. Tap the minus icon to remove existing controls.
  6. Tap the plus icon to add a Control.
  7. Search for Todoist.
  8. Select either the Add task or Open view control.
  9. Tap Done at the top-right to save changes.

Control for Action Button

This feature is available only on iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max and iPhone 16 series.

  1. Open the Settings app on your iPhone.
  2. Search for Action Button.
  3. Swipe left until Controls is selected.
  4. Tap Choose Control.
  5. Search for Todoist.
  6. Select Add task or Open view control.
  7. Configure control in the popup view and tap outside of it when done.
